Hope at the end of the Tunnel

This has started out as a rough day. First of all I feel awful since I cought whatever Emma had and can barely swallow or talk for that matter. During one of my coughing fits this morning I knocked down my hot tea which spilled all over the suade chair and me. I had to completely change my entire outfit as it was tea stained. The only good thing was that the tea had cooled off enought that I did not burn myself. Emma is recently refusing to put on a bib so that was a struggle. I let her cry with the bib on until she calmed herself down and ate with it on. I didn't have the energy to argue and she learned it must stay on. She really loved picking the red currents off the little vines and by leaving them on the vines I got her to eat like a 1/3rd of the container. She had little milk tough but at least she ate the currents and some yeast bread. So maybe her apetite will come back.
So I finally struggled with changing Emma's diaper (She has been fighting that too) and got her dressed, put her in the car, turned the key and all I hear is click click click....You can probably image what went through my head...I eventually called AAA and they came out ca. 45 minutes later. So I got Emma to darecare just in time for Jumpbunch which is this athletic program that keeps the kids in shape during the winter months and that Emma likes. I got to work late but at least we are not too busy and it didn't matter too much. So the day started out rough but now the hope...
We just came back from watching Obama's swear in ceremony to be the 44th President of the United States. I have got to say that I felt really proud watching this happen live on TV. In August, we became citizens and the first election we got to vote in was to vote for the first black president...pretty powerful really. I hope my daughter will some day realize what a significance the first election of her life was. Maybe it will be better that her generation won't know what a big deal it was because when they are old enough to vote most of the barriers our generation endured would have been broken down...
I will leave you with a quote from Obama. “Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again the work of remaking America,” "On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord,"
Lets really hope that positive change is coming because God knows we can really use it....

Emma's Favortie Song

I added a playlist to my blog to feature Emma's favorite song to date. It's I'm yours by Jason Mraz. She absolutely loves it and sings along to it, or the few words she knows how to say. It's really cute. Thanks for a friend's blog that featured the song for leading me to be able to add songs to my blog featuring Emma's favorite.

Sickly Days Ahead

I haven't written in a few days because Emma has been sick since Wed. I think it is just a cold. She has the clasic runny nose, cough and mild fever during the day with a higher fever at night. She has been fairly ok until today. She is much more cranky today so I gave in and gave her Tylenol during the day. I believe that if they have a mild temp they shouldn't get medication to give her body a chance to fight the illness. However if it hits near 101F she gets meds. I have been giving her Motrin at night, putting on Vicks for babies on her chest and cranked up the humidifier at night and thankfully she has been sleeping ok at night.
If her cough persists until Monday I will bring her in for a check up to see if it is turning into something more. I stayed home with her on Thursday and Daddy stayed with her on Friday. I have Monday off thankfully so I hope that she recovers by Tuesday. We are however going to miss Grandma Jasia's return from Poland. She is flying in today with Adam's sister but since Emma is sick and it is really cold out and it is supposed to snow tomorrow we are not going to go visit them. It will have to wait until next week. Next Sunday is Adam's birthday so we will bake him a nice cake and invite some family over for Sunday to have some cake. Nothing big...
HOpe everyone has a nice weekend and stay healthy...

Happy New Year Everyone

Happy New Year Everyone.
One of my New Years Resolution is to make sure I blog or do something similar to keep up with Emma's Development. She is going to be 2 in two months and this past year I didn't document any milestones. Bad mama....
This is a picture of little Emma on New Year's Day. She is getting so big already...
We spent New Years Day sledding. Emma loved to be pulled but not go down the hill as the snow was very powdery and sprayed her in the face all the way down. Needless to say she didn't want to go down the hill again. She much preferred mom to play the horse and pull her for 1.5 hours! At least mom started the New Year with a nice workout. I am adding the picture of her sledding.
